Undergrad Student Speaker Application Extended!

The undergraduate student speaker application deadline has been extended!

You’re invited to apply to be the undergraduate student speaker at Commencement on Monday, May 13! Being chosen to represent your class is a great honor, and speakers become members of the Commencement Committee for the Class of 2024.

Applicants should be willing and able to discuss their experiences at WashU and their hopes for the future. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate who has filed an intent to graduate in May 2024 and is in good standing with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

The application window is open until Wednesday, Feb. 7, and top candidates will be invited to interview in late February.


A few things to note:

1. Mark your calendar for the Grad Fair!

Attend the upcoming graduation fair to take regalia photos, pick out your class ring, enter for giveaways, and enjoy free food. 

2. Make plans for your Commencement Ceremony

You and your loved ones are invited to the 163rd Commencement cermony on Monday, May 13 at 9 a.m.  A Commencement festival with food, drinks, games, photo opportunities, and live entertainment will stretch from Mudd Field to Tisch Park immediately after the ceremony. We’ll announce more details about Commencement and the festival soon! 

3. Learn about other graduation-related events

Check the calendar of events for details about individual school, program, and affinity ceremonies that will be held between Wednesday, May 8, and Wednesday, May 15. 

4. Plan to attend affinity ceremonies

If you are interested in attending an affinity ceremony, please be sure to fill out the registration form. The deadline for registration is March 1 at 11:59 p.m. (CST).

5. Save the dates for Class of 2024 celebrations

Be sure to save the dates for your Class Toast and Class Celebration!

  • Wednesday, March 27: Class Toast in Brookings Quad
  • Thursday, May 9: Class Celebration at Ballpark Village
