The December Recognition Ceremony will take place in the Field House on Saturday, December 14, at 10 a.m. CST.
Please read the important information below and share this email with any guests who plan to attend the ceremony.
Policy changes for 2024 December Recognition
Tickets are required for entry into the ceremony. Students have been instructed to forward this email along with the ticket to their guests. Each guest will need to show proof of an entrance ticket.
A clear bag policy will be enforced. Graduates and guests are strongly encouraged not to bring bags. Only the following types of bags will be allowed:
- Clear plastic bags, not to exceed 14 in. x 14 in. x 4 in. Clear bags will be available and free of charge at the ceremony entrances for those who need them
- Small clutch-type wallets or purses not to exceed 4 in. x 6 in.
- Diaper bags are allowed for those with small children but will be inspected.
- Medically necessary equipment is permitted after inspection.
The following items are prohibited and are subject to confiscation:
- Air horns and other artificial noisemakers
- Animals, except assistance animal
- Banners or signs larger than 2 ft. x 3 ft. (No poles of any kind will be allowed.)
- Food and drink (except water)
- Firearms and weapons
- Laser lights
- Balloons, glitter, and confetti
- Unmanned aircraft/drones
Important information for you
Regalia is required to participate. Please review pick up and return information.
Graduates should arrive by 8:45 a.m. and enter through the Sumers Recreation Center.
When you arrive, check in at our registration table and pick up your name card. If you are receiving more than one degree, you should check in with your highest degree. For example, someone receiving a Master of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish will check-in at the master’s degree table.
Graduates may not bring any type of bag into the Field House.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will conclude around 11:30 a.m. All graduates will recess from the Field House and should arrange to meet guests outside the Athletic Complex.

Important information for your guests
Getting to campus and parking
- Please review the Visiting Campus page for more detailed information.
- Guests may park in Snow Way or the Danforth University Center garages.
- Accessible parking is available to those displaying a state-issued accessible placard or license plate in Lot 31, accessible via Olympian Way.
Attending or viewing the ceremony
- The ceremony livestream will be available on the Commencement website.
- Guests will enter through the Athletics Complex lobby. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m.
- The Field House doors will open at 8:45 a.m.
- Guests should not block pathways or the area in front of the stage during the ceremony. There will be a designated professional photography area during the recognition ceremony.
- Only water will be allowed inside the Field House.
