Getting to campus: Consider your options

The Commencement ceremony is held at the heart of the Washington University in St. Louis campus: the Brookings Quadrangle. The Quadrangle is on the east side of campus just west of Forest Park and near the intersection of Skinker Boulevard and Forest Park Parkway.

Due the East End Transformation construction project, parking will be limited. Guests are strongly encouraged to take a hotel shuttle, taxi or rideshare service. Drivers may drop off guests at McDonnell Hall (78).

MetroLink light rail also is a convenient and reliable option. Exit MetroLink at the Skinker Station.

Parking on campus

Visitors may park in university parking garages that include Millbrook and Snow Way (95,97) or Shepley and Wallace garages located on the South 40 (94-98).

Finding accessible parking

Accessible parking is available in the Danforth University Center Garage (DUC)(27). Please display your state parking tag.

Reserving a wheelchair

For Thursday and Friday’s morning ceremonies wheelchairs will be available on a first come first serve basis.

Please note that we have a limited number of wheelchairs available. If you have your own wheelchair, we suggest to bring it with you for the Commencement Events.

Wheelchair stations will be located at the North and South elevators on the first floor of the Danforth University Center (DUC). Wheelchair stations will be open from 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on both days.  Wheelchairs will be picked up and dropped off at the same location and must be returned by 2:00 p.m.

Giving yourself plenty of time

Commencement starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. Guests are encouraged to arrive by 7:45 a.m. to allow adequate travel time from campus parking areas to Brookings Quadrangle.

MetroLink, the St. Louis light-rail system, is an alternative to driving and parking at the university. The Metro offers convenient access to both the Danforth and Medical campuses and allows guests to avoid traffic and parking congestion during the Commencement ceremonies.
