2023 Commencement information

You and your loved ones are invited to the 162nd Commencement ceremony at Washington University in St. Louis!

Date: Monday, May 15, 2023

Time: 9 a.m. 

Location: Francis Olympic Field (rain or shine)

A Commencement festival with food, drinks, games, photo opportunities, and live entertainment will stretch from Mudd Field to Tisch Park immediately after the ceremony. We’ll announce details about the festival soon! 

A few things you need to do to get ready:

1. Let us know if you plan to attend Commencement.  

RSVP, even if you do not plan to participate in the university-wide Commencement ceremony. If you do plan to attend, be sure to include the number of guests who will join you.

2. Reserve your regalia.

You must wear regalia to participate in the university-wide Commencement ceremony. The reservation form will be available until April 7.

3. Learn about other graduation-related events.

Check the calendar of events for details about individual school, program, and affinity ceremonies that will be held between Tuesday, May 9, and Wednesday, May 17. 

4. Mark your calendar for the Grad Fair.

On Thursday, February 23, from 12–4 p.m., come to the Grad Fair at the WashU Bookstore to take regalia photos, pick out your class ring, enter for giveaways, and enjoy music and free food!

5. Get your gold philanthropy cord.
